According to major data centers in the US, all hard drives exhibit
an average annual failure rate of approximately 4%, under heavy
usage, operating in ideal environment, with perfect care. There is
no discernable difference among manufacturers.
I highlighted the first year in green shade. As you
can see, it tends to be very inconsistent. Failure rates of
subsequent years tend to have extremely small standard deviation
(low variation/dispersion).
