In-place upgrade is feasible
Must perform fresh install
- Only users of Windows 2000 and the 5 editions of XP listed qualify
for upgrades. Users of Windows 9x line, as well as XP starter edition and
Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs are ineligible.
- Only those systems with a clean, solid and absolutely problem-free O.S. should
attempt the in-place upgrade option. All others will be better served by
taking advantage of the occasion to start a fresh installation.
- Microsoft has not yet formally announced whether they will make
available upgrade paths within Vista, from one edition to another.
